What is ATI’s Core Business?

Our main business goal is to provide the forestry services desired from private forest landowners like you, with the primary result being a timber acquisition. As part of this goal ATI delivers wood fiber, whether pine or hardwood, pulpwood or saw-timber, to our many manufacturing customers located throughout Alabama and west Georgia. The manufacturers depend on ATI to deliver the forest products they require to operate their mills. Our customers manufacture many kinds of products from the wood fiber we deliver to them; from tissue paper, newspaper, computer printing paper, card board box material (liner-board) and other paper products to lumber, ply-wood, and other solid wood products.

What types of timber harvesting does ATI do?

ATI can do all types of timber harvesting. Our logging contractor operations are very mechanized and efficient, and are capable of clear-cutting or select harvesting (thinning) timber. ATI has different logging contractors that are specialized in the different methods of harvesting timber. We have a contractor available to suit every landowner’s specific timber harvesting needs.

When should you clear-cut versus thin?

An ATI Forester will visit your property free of charge to recommend what type of harvest activity, if any, you need to do in order to satisfy your objective for your property. If you are unsure what your objective for your property should be, one of our Foresters will assist you with that decision. Most landowners prefer to maximize income from their properties, while some prefer to manage wildlife, recreational, or aesthetic values, or some combination of these.

How can you be sure that ATI is maximizing the value of the trees being harvested?

ATI logging contractor operations do a superior job of merchandising each and every tree to the highest valued market as determined by the ATI Forester. The ATI Forester supervises the harvest operation to ensure that maximum utilization of the timber occurs, therefore maximizing income to you from the timber harvest.

Does ATI care about the environment and productivity of our Forests?

Absolutely! ATI will not sacrifice the integrity of the environment to fulfill its operating goals. ATI is a firm believer in good forestry practices and good forest management. ATI will only recommend environmentally sound forest practices to its clients and customers.

What sets ATI apart from Foresters called “Forestry Consultants”?

At ATI, our Registered Foresters “consult” you by providing the forestry service that will best benefit and accomplish your objectives. But, we take that service one step further. We are direct suppliers to the manufacturing markets that determine the “timber market” in your area. Our direct contact with these markets allows ATI Foresters to know exactly what price the forest products located on your land will sell for at the market place. Since we sell forest products to many markets, we know which market to sell your timber to in order to maximize your profit potential. “Forestry Consultants” do not have the same direct contact with the manufacturer. Thus, a Forestry Consultant can only speculate as to the true value of timber products located on your land. Who would you prefer to business with? Someone who knows the market exactly, or someone who speculates what the market is?

ATI knows Forestry, and ATI knows the Forest Product Manufacturing Markets. Knowledge of both sides of the market place helps ATI maximize our ability to serve our Forest Landowner Client, YOU.
